Whenever the terms ‘Compensation and Benefits’ come to mind, a worker’s mind is geared towards rewards, incentives, and other forms of economic values accruing to them. I am no exception.

Wishing you Happy Workers Day, and a blissful career journey!

While we all hope for more rewards and benefits, human needs are mostly insatiable. There is always a constant desire to get more. Need I remind you that the more you seek is relative to the perceived value you can offer, and not the resourcefulness you were identified with at the point of your engagement in that job role.

As handsome as rewards can be for every worker, it is pertinent to note that satisfaction and fulfillment are not necessarily hinged on these elements alone. In the many months and number of years, you have accrued over time as a worker, you would note there were key moments that helped you to the conviction that you were at the right place at a particular time. It could be the work ambiance, the warm reception received on your first day at the office, and a host of other intangible rewards of you being a worker/staff of an organization. Your well-being should also be of paramount interest to your employer(s). As a matter of courtesy, you deserve at least a proper welcome to a new environment.

How we can create a work environment of not just financial compensation and Benefits rather, but a work environment that creates total rewards!

  1. Express notes of appreciation

Most of the time, we seem to get carried away with the tight timelines on deliverables and barely notice, let alone acknowledge others during the discharge of our core duties and responsibilities. We can create an absolute climate by deliberately noting the efforts being put in by colleagues and spur them to go for more. This can further harness team spirit and cohesion. Remember, to always ensure sincerity and be kind.

  1. Do giveaway!

This is a common phrase we all in this part of the world can relate to. It does not necessarily have to be on a heavy budget. A box of chocolate, or pizza can deposit a lot in co-workers’ emotional banks that can yield the greatest rewards over time. Not necessarily edible items, your awareness of co-workers’ preference can be a distinctive feature of yours that help you stand out. Your sincerity really counts.

  1. Be ah-mazing!

Amazing is the word you would find in the dictionary. Have you ever thought of having a wow experience at work, words could not exactly describe it, it leaves you with beautiful exclamations and memories! What stops you from being a catalyst of such an experience at your workplace with your colleagues. The tough-looking worker at your office might just be a smile away from believing in themselves again. A simple smile and compliment could do that magic. Get thoughtful on this.

The points mentioned I have found helpful over time, and I realized it is not so expensive to create a beautiful experience noting that our time is limited. Why not make the time enjoyable, particularly with people we spend most of our active time with daily? A keyword to note is also sincerity as we resume at our various desks and duty posts. Be sincere with tasks and responsibilities assigned to you that even where no one checks, ensure you always maintain integrity.

You can observe it does not have to come from the top to the bottom. Rather bottom-up can be achieved without hiccups, it strengthens work relationships and builds the workforce of any organization’s level of confidence in each other.
